Meeting Minutes
Banderas Bay, Mexico, Post # 14

Post Commander Ron Abby opened the meeting at 12:00 p.m. The salute to the Colors and the Pledge of Allegiance was offered by those present. The Commander led the membership in the Preamble of the American Legion.

Roll Call – Officers Present: Commander: Ron Abby, Finance Officer: Nick Scott, Vice-commander: Norm Deveraux, Historian:  David Puckett, Sergeant at Arms:  Jim Brockway.

Minutes – The minutes of the 1 July 2008 meeting were read.  A motion to accept the minutes was made by Deveraux/Scott. Motion carried.

Finances – The financial report for June 2008 was read by the Nick Scott.  The current budget in approximately 9,334 pesos plus remaining inventory of Post items for sale.  A motion to accept the minutes was made by Puckett/Deveraux. Motion carried.

Election of New Members – 3 new members and 13 renewals for the past month.

Communications – The Commander read all communications from the Department as well as general mail. No items were laid over for action.
Old Business: – Still working to find a location where larger events could be held by the Post.  Options include Lions Club facility, Sheraton and Villa del Palmar.

– Finding a new printer to handle Post business.  Jim Brockway provided information and will assist in arranging a meeting between Post members and the printer.  New printer did not attend meeting.  Jim will contact him for the next meeting.
– The Post needs to purchase some type of identification that local businesses can display to show they provide discounts to American Legion members.

– Still working with post members to finalize quarterly meetings in different areas of Banderas bay so all other members could attempt and take part in the meetings.

New Business – Local medical facilities are requesting locals donate blood due to the summer shortage.  All members are encouraged to donate at Corner Stone Medical facilities.  Contact Pamela Thompson for additional information.
– Post will be ordering pins and will be reviewing designs for the pins.

– July 16th and 17th members of the Post 14 will be touring the USCGC Bertholf.  There will also be a reception for American Legion members.

– The Lake Chappalla Post has invited Post 14 to a volleyball tournament.  Post members will look at traveling there for a volleyball tournament and picnic.

– August 2008 meeting will be held at Senor Sweeneys.  Steve’s Bar will be closed for the month of August 2008.  Senor Sweeneys is now offering American legion members a 10% discount.

With no further business to come before the floor the meeting was adjourned at 13:00 p.m.

–Those present rendered the salute to the Colors.

The next meeting of the Post will be held on Tuesday, 5 Aug, 2008 at 12:00 a.m. at the Sweeney's Bar, Olas Altas, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
The meeting was then adjourned.
