Thomas A. NovichThomas A. Novich recently passed away while on his boat the “Momacita” in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Tom is survived by his wife Sonya, daughter Ashlee and stepson Luis of Puerto Vallarta, son and daughter in-law Shane & Misty Novich and grand children Hayley and Darby Novich of Arkansas, and daughter Lacy Leigh and grandson Shaine Leigh of Wisconsin. An account has been setup for Tom's young daughter Ashlee. Tom was known by many on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Whether one worked with Tom, for Tom, or Tom worked for you, he always had the same positive demeanor about himself and always was a constant for others. His career working on TAPS spanned over three decades working for Baseline and Projects. Born in Twin Bridges Montana on December 11, 1947, first came to Alaska through the military in the late 1960s. He joined the Laborers Local 942 in June of 1975 and first went to work for Frontier Rock & Sand in Prudhoe Bay. The following year he went to work for Price-Potashnick-Codell & Oman on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. In 1978 he continued working on the TAPS for H.C. Price until Northland Maintenance took over the TAPS Maintenance contract in 1979. He continued his work on TAPS with Morrison Knudsen when again the contract changed in 1982. In 1987 Northland Maintenance once again was awarded the TAPS Maintenance contract, where he continued his career on TAPS. With the award of the TAPS Maintenance contract in 1989 to Price-Ahtna, Tom continued to work on Baseline and Projects until his retirement through the Laborers in January of 1998. Tom had moved to Puerto Vallarta Mexico where he wintered and enjoyed chartering his boat. He returned in 2000 for Ahtna Construction as a field Superintendent where he had returned every summer to Alaska and worked for Ahtna Construction on many TAPS projects. Tom was again planning his return this summer to Alaska to work once again for Ahtna Construction on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Tom was laid to rest on his property in his beloved “Old Mexico” on May 18 2007. Ahtna Construction will have a celebration of life for all who knew Tom. This event will be from 11:00 to 2:00 on 6-2-2007 at the gazebos near the Chena River Boat Launch at Pioneer Park. Food and refreshment will be provided. Bank Account Information Arvest Bank |
